Meet Milo

This blog is about my dog Milo. I recently got him earlier in August from a family who couldn’t really take care of him. He is a Lhasao Apso mixed with a Yorkie and is currently 8 months old. Milo is a very energized dog. He loves to chew on things (especially toilet paper) and he loves to run around the house. We also have a cat and they sometimes get along but if Milo is annoying her, she'd give him a warning to back off.
This is a picture of how he originally use to look before I gave him a nice hair cut.
Milo does not like eating plain dry dog food, so what we do is mix the puppy chow with meat, then we add a little water to it and heat it up in the microwave. This takes about 2-5 minutes. Since Milo is a small dog, we feed him this only 3 times a day.
I taught Milo some moves. Here's a video of him doing one of them. He can stand on his hind legs. He is a little shy about doing it on the camera.
Everyday, it's either me or my brother who walks Milo. Everywhere we go, people always compliment about how cute my dog looks and they would want to pet him. Milo does not bite people or even bark at them. He is always welcoming people with open paws .... :3
Usually Milo gets a bath once every 2 weeks, but sometimes when Milo goes outside, he would easily get dirty or he would have a smell on him. Milo's fur color is white, so we will be able to easily see the dirt on him.
After his bath, he would run all over the house and flick water on everybody. It takes him an hour to dry off completely. I would try to dry him off with a towel but it's very difficult if he doesn't stay still.
Here is a video of him trying to dry of by running around.
 Awwwww!!! He's tired.
An hour has passed and now he is completely dry. My job here is done... :)

Since I have a Lhasao Apso dog mixed with a Yorkie, I want to show you two Dogs 101 vidoes of the dog that I have. This is the end of my blog, so thank you for reading it!

About me part II

My name is Amara Diomande and I recently blogged about myself a week ago, and I believe that you should know even more about me.  My favorite T.V. show as a child used to be SpongeBob, but now, I’m into funny T.V. shows like Ridiculousness. Me and my brother love watching that show every week. My favorite food is a lot of things, which is why I label them as my favorite Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Dessert. My favorite breakfast is Strawberry and Cream Toaster Strudel. My favorite lunch is peanut butter & Jelly sandwich. My favorite dinner is buffalo wild wings. My favorite dessert is cheese cake. I am not really a sport fan, so I don’t have a favorite sport. My favorite actor is Tyler Perry. I recently saw one of his movies which were Alex Cross. The movie kept me awake the whole time and there was a whole lot of suspense. You should definitely go see this movie. My Favorite type of music is hip-hop, old school rap, and r n’ b. I’m not a big fan of the new century rap because all they do is make nonsense noise, they curse a whole lot, and all they do is talk about a lot of inappropriate things such as sex. Some people like that kind of music, but I don’t. One thing that I love to do is going to see my family members. I love them so much and I honestly rather hang out with them than anyone else. My friends, I label them. I label them by how our relationship. I have acquaintances, friends, good friends, best friends, and best friends forever. Acquaintances are the people who I just met or someone who was once my friend, but something happened. Friends are someone who I recently decided that I like who I want to know better. Good friends are someone who I’ve been friends with for a while now, so we really know each other well. Best friends are someone who I really love now, who will also be able to share their secrets. It is also someone who is not greedy, who will never steal from me, and would always be there for me no matter what. Best friends forever are someone who I dearly love. They are just like my best friend, but I think of them as family. Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you enjoyed it.

The Pencil Helper

The Pencil Helper was a fake comercial that me and my partners made. This was an assignment that my Digital Imaging teacher made us do for her class. The creation of this short video took us about a week. We made this video last year during my freshman year. It was a fun experience. Watch this video and comment on how you think about this. I hoped you enjoy it! .... :)
If you can not really hear what we are saying, then look down.
Girl: Man! That test was hard
Boy: I Know!
Girl: What grade do you think you got.
Boy: I think I got an A
Girl: We'll I guess we'll wait and see.

Girl: I got an F!
Boy: I GOT AN A!
Girl: How?
Boy: With the PENCIL HELPER!!!
*If you call now at 777-777-7777, I'll knock off one payment of this Pencil Helper and it will only cost $19.99.
Girl: I going to call and order one.

Keystone Pipeline

Actual picture of Keystone Pipeline

Keystone Pipeline is a pipeline that transported oil all around the United States. The pipeline starts at Alberta, Canada. The states or countries that are involved are the U.S, Regina, Saskatchewan, Steele City, Nebraska, Wood River, and Patoka. The controversy was about extension of the pipeline. The jobs that were created by the pipeline is about 5,000-20,000 jobs.

The Keystone Pipeline is a pipeline system that started in 2008, which transported synthetic crude oil and diluted bitumen from northeastern Alberta, Canada to multiple destinations in the United States President Dave Coles stated that 'the Keystone pipeline will exclusively serve US markets, create permanent employment for very few Canadians, reduce our energy security, and hinder investment and job creation in the Canadian energy sector'. . The Keystone Pipeline cost about 5.2 billion dollars and took about two years with the constructions and permits.

The states and countries that were involved with the Keystone Pipeline and the places that the pipeline stretched to were the U.S, Canada, Regina, Saskatchewan, Steele City, Nebraska, Wood River, and Patoka. This was part of phase 1 and 2 of the pipeline route. With the pipeline, now there is over a thousand jobs now for people to help make the pipeline a reality. The jobs that were created by the pipeline is about 5,000-20,000 jobs.
The Controversy was about extending the Keystone Pipeline making it the Keystone Pipeline XL. President Obama warned congressional Republicans that he will reject any attempt to tie a payroll tax cut extension to approval of the controversial Keystone XL oil pipeline, which supporters say would create thousands of new jobs. The original Keystone Pipeline cost 5.2 billion dollars, but with the extension on it would cost 7 billion dollars. There were a lot of people protesting about the pipeline extension. Environmental groups have argued that the extraction of oil sands contributes to climate change and the pipeline poses leak risks.
I believe that the pipeline shouldn’t be extended because this is ruining the environment. There is pollution from it that will ruin our ozone and cause global warming. If there is an oil spill from a damaged pipe, then it will kill the environment and the animals that live in it. I also believe that the pipeline XL is unnecessary and a waste of time. It actually would cost more money than the original pipeline. There are only two advantages from the pipeline extension and that is people are getting more money and the countries are getting oil.

A cool ELECTROMAGNET experiment I've done

Science experiment: Building an electromagnet
Things I need: 19 cm nail, 3 in copper wire, 6 volt battery, compass
Steps I took:
Step 1: Some of the copper wire needs to be exposed so that the battery can make a good electrical connection. Use a pair of wire strippers to remove a few centimeters of insulation from each end of the wire.
Step 2: Neatly wrap the wire around the nail. The more wire you wrap around the nail, the stronger your electromagnet will be. Make sure that you leave enough of the wire unwound so that you can attach it to the battery. When you wrap the wire around the nail, make sure that you wrap the wire all in one direction. You need to do this because
the direction of a magnet field depends on the direction of the electric current creating it.

Step 3: Attach one end of the wire to the positive terminal of the battery and the other end of the wire to the negative terminal of the battery. If all has gone well, the electromagnet should be working.
To test this theory, I pointed the magnetized nail near the compass and the needle facing south pointed towards it.
An electromagnet is a magnet that runs on electricity. Unlike a permanent magnet, the strength of an electromagnet can easily be changed by changing the amount of electric current that flows through it. The electromagnet was developed from a series of observations. In 1820 Hans Christian Oersted discovered the relationship between electricity and magnetism. He found out that the wire carrying a current had a magnetic field which acted like a magnet. Electromagnetism is very important in our lives. The main technological uses of electromagnets are in storing information and moving things. They are used in many electrical devices like electrical balls (Ex. Plasma flashers), loudspeakers, magnetic locks and various magnetic recording devices such as computer disks, tape recorders, VCR, etc. Televisions also use electromagnets to power the cathode ray tube to regulate the direction of the beam of electrons, used to illuminate the screen. Electromagnets are also used in telephones, mobile phones and doorbells. Moving metals and picking up cars in junkyards are some of the common everyday uses of electromagnets. Spacecrafts also use electromagnets in the propulsion system to generate power.

1984 Book: Winston's Life is kinda Ironic

So far, some events happening in Winston’s life has been ironic. These ironies make it harder for Winston to live a life where he gets what he wants because of the government’s controlling laws. Winston lives in a world where things are dull, but deep inside he doesn’t want to be like this, but if Winston disobeyed the rules, he would ‘vanish’ just like his father did when he was around ten-years-old. Winston’s wife, Katherine, is the type of person who is devoted to the party, and would only have intercourse with Winston just to produce a child. When Katherine saw that they couldn’t, she abandons him. The Dark-haired lady came into Winston’s life in Chapter one. Winston says that he dislikes her, but he is just jealous that he cannot have her. An example is this erotic dream that he had about her, which was kind of weird. Winston had sex with this old, unattractive prostitute and he writes about it in his diary. The ironic thing was that he didn’t know that she was ugly until her face hit the lights.

Katherine and Winston are married. What’s ironic is that they do not act like a regular couple because of the ruling Party of London, which prohibits free thought, love, and any expression of individuality. The party's only reason to match people together in marriage is so that they will produce children. Since this wasn't happening and Winston did not enjoy the scheduled sexual relations due to trying to have a child, Katherine leaves Winston. Somehow they are technically still married because the Party prohibits divorce even though Winston hasn’t seen her for years.
Winston notices the dark haired lady in chapter 1 at his job. She works in the Fiction Department at the Ministry of Truth. Winston actually shows hatred towards her, but he is just jealous that he can’t have her. This is shown when he has an erotic dream about her and in a dream, the lady is undressed completely and Winston is amazed at how easily she does this. The ironic thing about this is that Winston’s dream shows many sexual and loving feelings towards the lady even though he says that he doesn’t like her.

In Chapter 6, Winston writes in his diary about a horrible encounter that he had three years ago with a prostitute. He had done this, knowing that he would get in big trouble if he got caught. What was ironic about this was that Winston at first thought that this woman was beautiful and sexy. He realizes that the woman was old and unattractive when he saw her face in the lights. She had a whole lot of make-up on to cover her face, so it would be hard to tell.

Events in Winston’s life have been so very ironic. He’s been living in a world of dystopia where there are a lot of things that people can’t do or they’ll get disciplined. Winston loses a wife who probably didn’t love him back because love is prohibited in London. He has had a crush on one of his co-workers, but in a world where a lot of things are restricted, Winston is probably too afraid to say anything, so he’s just angry and jealous of her. Living in London makes it harder for Winston to find another spouse because love with  pleasure are not allowed, and because he gets what the Party matched him with already, so he ends up trying to have sex with a prostitute.

1984 Book: Part II Chapter 9

In chapter 9, there are events in Winston’s life has gotten him really stressed out and tired. Hatred use to be directed at Eurasia, but on the sixth day of Hate Week, suddenly Oceania's alliance changed, so Eurasia was their ally, and the enemy was now Eastasia. Julia and Winston finally get some alone time together after Winston did 5 days of deleting all bad history on Eurasia, but somehow they got caught and arrested by the Thought police. And another thing was that Mr. Carrington was the reason why Winston and Julia got arrested because he was an undercover Thought police officer and he was also the one who allowed Winston and Julia to use his room.

Oceania was constantly at war with Eurasia, but somehow they came to an agreement and became allies. This is just like when I fight with my siblings, but in the end we end up getting along. Winston and his fellow workers at the Ministry had spent 90 hours rewriting history so that no trace of the war with Eurasia could be found in the documents of the past 5 years. That is just like forgetting anything bad my siblings did and giving him a clean slate. This was stressful for Winston because he has to spend about 5 days of his time removing anything that related to disliking Eastasia and that was a lot of work.

Winston was very busy for almost a week after finding out that Eurasia and Oceania were now allies. Julia and Winston have had little time to meet, but now they can look forward to a small amount of time together. This is just like me trying to spend time with my family member that I haven’t seen for a while. Things got worse for Winston and Julia when they got caught being together by the thought police and they got arrested. All of this is so stressful for Winston because he just got done doing work, and now he and Julia are facing criminal charges.
Mr. Carrington was helping Winston and Julia see each other more by allowing them to both use his room for alone time. Winston had trusted him but it turns out that Mr. Carrington was a Thought police officer and he ratted out Winston and Julia. This is all so stressful because now Winston just got done with work, he is facing criminal charges, and he now just found out that the person he trusted to protect him just got him in trouble.
All Winston wants to do is to spend time with his girlfriend, but he can’t. When Winston had some time to spend with her, they get separated again. It is so stressful for Winston to live in a life where you can’t show your feelings or have pleasure towards someone or you’ll get in trouble. Now they are arrested and it might be a while for Winston to ever see Julia again.

1984 Book: The Government

The way the government treats the people in this story is somehow similar to how my parents treats me in real life. What the government does is they control every aspect of the citizens’ lives in London. For example, the government controls who they could associate with. My parents do that too, but they do not control every aspect in my life. They do control some of the things that  does not seems right to them like for example, keeping me away from people who are not a good influence to me. The reason why both the government and my parents treat me and the citizens like this is so that things are well civilized and in control. Without this, things would not go well.
In the book, the government controls on how the people spend every minute of their time, and so does my parents about me. The government controls on who the citizens could associate with. My parents do it too, but they do it to protect me. The government controls on what the people could say. My parents won’t allow me to say anything that is rude or inappropriate. The government uses Big Brother to make the people obey the rules, while my parents use scary folk tales to make me cooperate and behave. The government make you watch the government channel on the television, go to pep rallies, and also attend the two minutes Hate. My parents also make me do things like take out the trash, or watch the presidential debate with them, or to walk the dog.
In the novel, 1984, the government had almost total control over the people. The supreme ruler of the government was Big Brother. Posters announced that “Big Brother is Watching You”. Telescreens were everywhere screening brainwashing government programs with propaganda on it. Coins, stamps, books, films, and banners announced the three slogans of the Party: War is Peace, Freedom is Slavery, and Ignorance is Strength. The reason why I said that the way that the government treats the citizens is similar to how my parents treat me is because we may not like the way they control things, but the government and my parents have to do these things so things are well civilized. If things are no civilized in London, there would be destruction and the citizens would most likely rebel against the government. If things are not civilized in my parent’s house, there will be problems.

1984 Book: Winston's Breaking point

A breaking point is the point at which something or someone gives way under strain. Not a lot of people make me hit that breaking point, but if they do, I would want to hurt them for doing whatever they did. I’m not the type of person who breaks down in tears. I’m just like Winston. Winston does not really have people who hit his breaking point, but there was one thing that did make him hit that point that caused him to subject Julia to this torture instead of him, and that was his fears. This is very depressing moment because Winston really loved Julia and she really didn’t do anything to make him do this.
One thing that makes me hit my breaking point is when someone is playing a cruel joke or if they are using my fears to scare me. One thing I’m really fearful of is getting shot. My friend did not have a real gun, but he had a BB gun and they really hurt if you get shot by them. I told him that if he shoots me, I’m going to kick his butt. He must have thought I was playing when I told him, because he shot me afterwards. After that, fists were flying and he lost a good friend for a stupid reason. In the book 1984, Winston’s fear was rats. He was very terrified at the sight of them and Obrien used rats to torture Winston. Before Obrien used rats to torture Winston, he had people beat him with fists, weapons, and their feet to get him to break, but that didn’t do anything to Winston. When Obrien used rats, Winston was very frightened. Remember, Winston was afraid at the sight of rats earlier in the book, but these rats are touching and biting off Winston’s face. This made Winston hit his breaking point. It caused him to completely not care if she was going to get hurt or not.
Winston really loved Julia. He just couldn’t take all the stress Obrien was giving him and he hit that breaking point and gave in. The person I was originally friends with was a great friend, but he was a bad influence to me. He was just like Julia who was a bad influence to Winston in the book. The secret relationship between them two caused both of them to get arrested and Winston had to go through torture all the time until he gave in and subject Julia to the torture instead of him.

About Me

Picture of me
My name is Amara Diomande and I am currently in high school and my teacher assigned my class to do a blog, so I’m going to blog about myself. I am 15 years old and I am African-American. I live in Berkeley, IL. I have two brothers and one sister and they are all in their early 20s, so I’m like the youngest in the house. My hair color is black and the style I have is Dreadlocks. They are not completely locked, but the ends are, and they aren’t at a long length yet. I have a cat and I also have a dog who I’m trying to train. I recently got him in August from a family who couldn’t really take care of him. His name is Milo and he is currently 8 months old. The school that I am now in is Proviso Mathematics and Science Academy. Here's the web link:’m a tenth grader and my freshman year went by swimmingly. Usually the freshmans in most high schools gets picked on the most, but this school doesn’t, which I’m glad about. The classes are very advanced because this school is for honor students. You can’t really get in this school unless you start of as a 9th grader just like the others. Some of my friends from my original school couldn’t get in so I pretty much had to make new friends. I miss them dearly and I hope they are alright. In this school, I have a lot of friends from different grades. The reason why is because I’m a nice guy who is very funny and sociable, but I’m serious when it comes to work. I’m not a trouble maker and I do not argue or talk back to adults, and I most definitely do not start fights with people. I’m not afraid to talk to anyone, but when it comes to expressing my opinion about things, I do it respectfully so I do not anger anybody. If you want to get to know me more, you could either email me on or friend me on Facebook. Thank you for reading my blog and I hope you enjoyed it.

1984 Book: Literary Analysis: Heroes

Heroes always change in our mind as we grow. As a child, we think of superheroes, imaginary friends, and cartoons as our real heroes. As we grow older, our opinions keep changing from time to time. We’ll begin to think about the real things, about what heroes really are. How they really help people. Hero really affects our lives and other people's lives too. They change the way we think, teaching good things, and more. We always need heroes. People like the police officers, our parents, doctors, and firefighters are the people that we need. They help our society and the way we live. In the book 1984, Winston’s childhood was different from some people. He didn’t really have a hero for his parents disappeared when he was young.

Who people really think is their hero is the people who loves them the most which is their parents. The reason of that is because they raised us since we were a child. The way they raise us as a child will affect us when we get older. They took care of us, they fed us, they put clothes on our backs, and they gave us a good home to live in. They were always there to help when needed, and as long as we were on their good side, everything would be okay. If we are not, then they will discipline us. They call it tough love. Without it, kids would not act right.  Winston’s childhood was not good. He was exposed to bad and horrible things. This was after his parents disappeared during the war, and that affect his life later on.

Parents teaches us what’s right from wrong, how to be respectful to people, to never be negative, and to never use profanity. It is very difficult to grow up without parents and still make it through life. Without our parents, we would be lost in life. We would be disrespectful people with no education, no job, no life whatsoever, no home training, in jail, and no one would give a care about us because it’s not their problem. Winston’s life went wrong later on because he was not taught good things during his childhood years. He grew up not respecting the rules that the government was giving him even though they weren’t right, so for his punishment, he was completely brainwashed into following orders.

We all believe that we need people like the police officers, doctors, and firefighters. They may help our society and the way we live, but parents are better than them because these people can’t love and take care of us like our parents do. With our parents, our lives will be very good and even better when we get older. We’ll have a good enough education to get a job, or even a career. No one would dislike us because we are very respectful and cordial. That is why our parents are the real heroes.

1984 Book: Literary Reflection about Winston's fears

Everyone has a fear of something. It’s something that we don’t want to happen to ourselves but some cannot help it. Fear is an upsetting emotion produced by threat, danger, pain, etc. In the book 1984, Winston’s fear was rats. He wasn’t just troubled by rats. He was petrified of them. This was first revealed in Chapter IV, when he screamed at the sight of a rat. It’s embarrassing for Winston to be afraid of rats because his girlfriend, Julia, was right there at the time and she didn’t show any fear at all. The book shows that everyone has a fear.

Winston cannot tolerate rats, and O'Brien knows this and takes advantage of this fear in Room 101.  Winston sacrifices Julia.  He had hoped to keep his love for her in his heart, but the threat of rats in Room 101 destroys this.  After that, he has nothing left to love but Big Brother. Before Obrien used rats to torture Winston, he had people beat him with fists, weapons, and their feet to get him to break, but that didn’t do anything to Winston. When Obrien used rats, Winston was very terrified. One thing I’m really fearful of is getting shot. I’ve seen stories on the news of people dying every day from a shot and that really spooked me up. If there was a chance that I was getting robbed with an assault weapon, I would completely break down and act the same way Winston did in the rat cage.

When one lets themselves stay in fear, they are choosing to have the fear guide their actions like Winston did when he sacrificed Julia to this torture instead of him. I'm sure everyone has felt overwhelmed by fear at some point, maybe often. Most of us feel fear to some level or another, which is fine at a certain level, but when fear causes you to sacrifice someone’s life, then this must be a serous phobia. It’s very depressing that Winston did that because Julia was the only true love for him, and now he has no one else to love but Big Brother. That is a sad ending to the book, but that’s what fear does to people.
